Remarks: |

Dubious example of an Equal-area, with an irregular graticule.
Cahill (and myself and Waterman) did not use a triangular octants for this
kind, but indented at the poles and equator, enabling a smoother graticule,
and polar regions to be reassembled. * Wrong meridian. A Cahill-style map, unlike here, divides at 20º W, so as not to split Africa, Spain, UK, etc.. On this map, no other layouts (N. Pacific or S. Atlantic, etc.) are possible without splitting continents.. Original caption: Equal-area Octahedron; Polyhedral Globe; Platonic Solid; Source: John Parr Snyder’s Personal Software |
